Get-Together

The Kick-off event started in the morning with an icebreaker session organized exclusively for the H.I.T. participants at an exquisite venue of the University of Zurich, Pavillon Stockargut.

The 22 participants, female associate and full professors representing 11 Swiss universities, got to know each other and had the opportunity to discuss organizational aspects of the program with the management team.

Opening Ceremony

After a networking lunch together with the H.I.T. Program’ representatives from partner institutions, all participants joined the invited guests in the historic Aula of the RAA building for the official opening ceremony.

On behalf of the University of Zurich, Prof. Dr. Gabriele Siegert, Deputy President and Vice President Education and Student Affairs held the welcome speech.

Dr. Christiane Löwe, Head of the Office Gender Equality and Diversity gave a welcome address in the name of the H.I.T. Program.

There were two plenary sessions in the afternoon: keynote speeches and panel discussions with distinguished guests, female leaders in academia.

Keynote Speakers

During her opening keynote speech, Prof. Eileen Drew, Director of the Trinity Centre for Gender Equality and Leadership, Dublin, captivated the audience and shared energy and motivation to all of the participants.

Prof. Martine Rahier, former Rector of the University of Neuchatel and Vice President of the European University Association, provided insights on women and leadership in academia in the European and the Swiss academic environment.

Panel Discussion

A lively and inspiring panel discussion looking at women leadership in Swiss Higher Education was very appreciated by the audience.

Agenda 2019-2020

At the end of the event, Dr. Mihaela Falub, manager of the H.I.T. Program, presented the agenda of the program 2019-20 and acknowledged all the participants for joining the Kick-off event.

Networking Aperitif

The opening ceremony concluded with lively discussions at the networking aperitif organized in the Lichthof of the RAA building.
