Prof. Dr. Eva Illouz

Die Philosophische Fakultät hat Frau Eva Illouz im Rahmen der Gastprofessur Hedi Fritz-Niggli eingeladen. Eva Illouz ist Professorin für Soziologie und Anthropologie an der Hebräischen Universität Jerusalem und an der Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales. Sie forscht und lehrt zu Emotionen, Kapitalismus, Kultur und Kommunikation.

Frau Illouz wurde 2009 von der Zeitung Die Zeit als eine von 12 Intellektuellen genannt, die das Denken der Zukunft verändern werden. Im Jahr 2013 wurde sie mit dem Anneliese-Maier-Forschungspreis der Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung ausgezeichnet. Mehrere ihrer Bücher wurden von der American Sociological Association ausgezeichnet.

An der Universität Zürich ist Frau Illouz am Soziologischen Institut tätig. Sie wird im Frühling 2016 unter anderem das Seminar «Capitalism and the Movies» unterrichten. Am 12.5.2016 hält sie einen öffentlichen Vortrag zum Thema «Sexual relations and the rise of uncertainty».

During the few weeks I stayed at the University of Zurich under the auspices of Hedi Fritz-Niggli Visiting Professorship, I sampled the best of Zurich's intellectual life: highly knowledgeable, inquisitive, sharp students; welcoming, warm and interesting colleagues; intense seminar rooms. Feminist studies are only 2 decades old in Switzerland and participating in a program for the advancement of women often gave the thrill of contributing to a field in construction and to a vibrant community of women scholars and feminists.
