The University of Zurich (UZH) works in a decisive and creative way to guarantee that all genders have the same rights and the same opportunities to develop. The Office for Gender Equality and Diversity is the central office for all matters related to gender equality in research, teaching and learning, as well as in the university’s administration. All staff and students at UZH may turn to the Office for Gender Equality and Diversity with any gender-related questions or issues concerning their studies and/or working conditions.
The Office for Gender Equality and Diversity advises and supports other university bodies as well as staff and students on all matters pertaining to gender equlity. It operates on its own as well as in cooperation with other UZH bodies to develop measures and actions to realise the strategic and equality-related aims of the University’s Executive Board.
The Office works in close cooperation with the Gender Equality Commission and harbors the Commission’s coordination office. The faculties, institutes and departments as well as representatives of student and staff organizations and the central services are also key to the work of the Office for Gender Equality and Diversity.
It represents the University of Zurich on the relevant national and international professional bodies and organizations and is active at conferences concerning equality and diversity. Through these actions, the Office makes a contribution to national and international developments and policies, based on its practical experience as well as on literature and research on central issues related to equality in academia.
